Purpose: This conference brought together the regional climate research community (North Central University Consortium, DOI agencies, and other institutions) and local stakeholders (resource managers, tribal resource managers and leaders, and non-governmental organizations) to foster productive engagement with the NC CSC. Together, we identified the most important climate-related topics for resource managers and adjusted the NC CSC’s agenda to encourage demand-driven and actionable research. We encouraged participation from tribal members and young scientists by providing travel support to those participants.

Description: Research at the North Central Climate Science Center is built on three foundational science areas: climate drivers, ecological impacts, and adaptation. In this 3 day conference, we highlighted past and current research and findings in these areas and identified climate-related management issues faced by land managers in the North Central region. We also discussed ways to improve stakeholder engagement and how best to communicate research outcomes to a wide range of audiences.

In addition to the conference, NC CSC offered a training for early career scientists and students on May 18th-19th. Please see the training page for more information.
