SAHM Training

Tuesday, September 9, 2014 - 8:30am to Wednesday, September 10, 2014 - 5:00pm

Over the past several years the USGS Fort Collins Science Center (the FORT) has established its "Resource for Advanced Modeling" (RAM). This was designed as a collaborative workspace where resource managers could meet with USGS sceintists to develop predictive ecological response models.

FORT’s Invasive Species Science Branch and the DOI North Central Climate Science center have teamed up to develop and implement the Software for Assisted Habitat Modeling (SAHM) to both expedite habitat modeling and help maintain a record of the various input data, pre- and post- processing steps and modeling options incorporated in the construction of an ecological response model.

At this course, participants will:

  1. Learn functionality and use of the VisTrails:SAHM package
  2. Get an overview of the statistical packages included in SAHM
  3. Work through an example species distribution dataset

After this course, participants will be prepared to:

  1. Understand and apply VisTrails:SAHM to their own datasets
  2. Be part of the VisTrails:SAHM user community
