SAHM Training

Tuesday, September 13, 2016 (All day) to Wednesday, September 14, 2016 (All day)

VisTrails is an open-source management and workflow system designed to integrate the best of both scientific workflow and visualization systems. SAHM:VisTrails trainings are offered every six months for those interested in learning more. The course includes a combination of lecture, hands-on work, and discussion.

Developers can extend the functionality of the VisTrails system by creating custom modules for bundled VisTrails packages. SAHM for VisTrails expedites habitat modeling and maintains a record of input data, steps before and after processing, and modeling options in the construction of ecological response models. There are four main advantages to using this combined package for species distribution modeling:

1. Formalization and tractable recording of the entire modeling process.
2. Easier collaboration through a common modeling framework.
3. A user-friendly graphical interface to manage file input, model runs, and output.
4. Extensibility to incorporate future and additional modeling routines and tools.
