Title: Resilience & Ecosystem Services: LCCs focus conservation in a working landscape
Gwen White, Science Coordinator, Tallgrass Prairie LCC, US Fish & Wildlife Service

Abstract: The Tallgrass Prairie LCC anticipates doing more collaborative work with the North Central Climate Science Center, as we continue to coordinate joint efforts of several LCCs that overlap the Central Plains through two major initiatives: 1) the Gulf Hypoxia Precision Conservation Blueprint v1.5 that highlights design and location of 12 high impact agricultural practices across the Mississippi Basin; and 2) Monarch's View of the City, a set of social and ecologically-oriented tools for planning and implementation of Urban Monarch Landscape Conservation Design tools initially piloted for Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, St Louis and Austin. Staff from several LCCs recently conducted a series of dialogues to identify landscape scale conservation concerns and explore additional opportunities to join forces on key issues in three states (Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma), as well as hosting online conversations on research and social capacity needs with two practitioner communities (Prairie Reconstruction Initiative and the Floodplain Science Network). An overview of these two initiatives and the dialogues will be presented by Tallgrass Prairie LCC staff Kelley Myers, Coordinator, and Gwen White, Science Coordinator.
